Short Bio
Kaz Yoneda is a founding principal of B01, architecture and design practice based in Tokyo. After collaborations at Sou Fujimoto, Harvard Tokyo Toyo Ito Studio, and Takram, he launched bureau0-1 in 2014, incorporated in 2018. Committed to practice, research and education, he currently holds a position of Associate Professor-in-Practice, where he heads KazLab in the new (est. 2024) Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Japan Women’s University. He also teaches a graduate studio at the Hosei University, and has previously taught at Harvard, Cornell, University of Tokyo, Keio University SFC, Nihon University, UCLA xLAB program (2017-19), and Waseda University, as well as workshops and lectures at various institutions, in and out of Japan.
Kaz was awarded the Richard Rogers Fellowship (2018) and Good Design Awards (2019 & 2020). His works have been exhibited at dOCUMENTA 13, Art Institute of Chicago Sullivan Galleries, and 21_21 Design Sight, as well as published in Japan Architects, Shinkenchiku, GA Japan, and Architectural Review, to name a few.
Kaz received B.Arch. from Cornell AAP and M.Arch II from Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Long Bio
Born in Seattle and raised in California, Kaz went on to receive a B.Arch. (Hons) from the Cornell University AAP. After a two-year collaboration with a then-startup atelier in Tokyo, he attended Harvard GSD and received his M.Arch. II (Hons) in 2011. Thereafter, he was appointed to run Harvard GSD’s Tokyo Abroad Studio with Toyo Ito. After serving as an inaugural director of space design for Takram from 2011 to 2014, Kaz launched bureau0-1. In 2018, B01 (Bureau 0–1,Inc.) became incorporated.
Equally committed to practice, research and education, Kaz holds a position of Associate Professor-in-Practice, where he heads KazLab in the new (est. 2024) Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Japan Women’s University. He also teaches a graduate studio as Adjunct Professor at the Hosei University. He has previously taught at Harvard GSD as a Design Critic in Architecture, Cornell University, Tokyo University, Adjunct Lecturer at Keio University (formerly Assistant Professor during 2016~2020), Nihon University College of Fine Arts, a studio instructor for UCLA xLAB program, and Studio Instructor at Waseda University, in addition to lecturing at various institutions.
In 2014, Kaz was shortlisted for the prestigious Wheelwright Prize. In 2018, he was awarded the Richard Rogers Fellowship to research about the London Olympics Legacy Masterplan. The showroom he co-designed while at Takram called “Aurora”, for Toppan Company, received the 2019 Good Design Award. Kaz's interviews and written pieces have been published in Japan Architects, Shinkenchiku, GA Japan, The Architectural Review, Redshift, and Built. He has contributed to or have been featured on Metropolis, WIRED, Motherboard, ICON, and Architecture Boston. His works have been exhibited at dOCUMENTA 13, Art Institute of Chicago Sullivan Galleries, and 21_21 Design Sight.

ワシントン生まれ、カリフォルニア育ち。2007年にコーネル大学建築学科卒業後、2007~09年のあいだ藤本壮介建築設計事務所で従事、プロジェクトとメディアをとおして黎明期の国際化に貢献。2011年にハーバード大学デザイン大学院GSD建築学科修士M.Arch2課程修了。2011年にハーバードから派遣され、伊東豊雄ハーバード東京スタジオを発足。2011からTakramのアートや空間デザインのアソシエイトディレクターを経て、2014年にbureau0-1を開始。2018年には、B01(Bureau 0–1 株式会社)は、法人化を遂げた。国内外に活動の場を広げている。
プラクティスのかたわら、教育や研究にも積極的に取り組む。教職歴は、コーネル大学サマースタジオ講師, 東京大学大学院建築学専攻非常勤、日本大学芸術学部非常勤講師、UCLA大学校xLAB兼任講師、ハーバード大学GSDデザイン大学院講師、慶應義塾大学SFC特任助教(2020年から特任講師に昇格)、早稲田大学非常勤講師などを歴任。2019年から法政大学デザイン工学部建築学科で修士デザインスタジオの兼任講師を務める。
2016年から日本女子大学非常勤講師、さらに2024年から新設された日本女子大学建築デザイン学部建築デザイン学科の特任准教授に任命され、KazLabが発足。
